Elizabeth Taylor - "Turbulence" - by Richard Bassett by richardbassett1956
I believe this short synopsis should explain the clip. It really is all about missing someone that you love. Life started at 18 for Dame Elizabeth Taylor when she married hotel heir Nicky Hilton (1950). After year of torture, she was 19 and divorced (1951) and quickly married actor Michael Wilding (1952). She had two sons (1953, 1955) with him. When that marriage turned into a brother/sister relationship...missing Elizabeth as a wife, Michael returned to his home land of England (1956). Dynamo producer Mike Todd entered her life the day after Michael left Elizabeth.. With him came his best friend, successful singer Eddie Fisher and his wife, actress Debbie Reynolds (who were the parents of two small children). Mike and Elizabeth married in 1957 and a beautiful daughter was born...though Eddie was in love with Elizabeth (as well). Tragically, Mike Todd was killed in a plane crash (1958). The grieving and missing Mike brought Eddie and Elizabeth together, and when they believed that they were deeply in love... Eddie left Debbie for Elizabeth. A scandal of epic proportion broke out. Eddie and Elizabeth married (1959) but the world turned against Elizabeth Taylor...believing she was a black widow femme fatale without morals. When she almost died of pneumonia in 1961, the world forgave her for stealing Eddie from Debbie. They awarded her an Academy Award...for coming back to life. But, after her near death experience, she realized she did not marry Eddie for the right reasons. She adopted a baby girl (1961) to solidify the married. It did not work. The film, "Cleopatra" started production (1962) and Elizabeth worked very closely with actor Richard Burton on location in Rome. He was married, as well, to the ever faithful Sybil Burton (and they were the parents of two small children). Of course, Eddie was at Elizabeth's right side. Difficult though it was, Richard and Elizabeth fell in love. They left their respective mates to be together and an international scandal emerged. The Pope turned his back on Elizabeth. There was talk that Elizabeth would be unable to return to America. Richard lost his family, and it was suspected his career would be destroyed. (After Eddie left Debbie for Elizabeth in 1958, his career was considered washed up and he became Elizabeth's personal assistant). Unable to marry until divorces were final, they lived in sin together. (1963) But, despite all of the opposition, Richard and Elizabeth married (1964) and their career's (as well as their fame) flourished and they spent the next few decades traveling all over the world....together. Michael Wilding has missed Elizabeth, Debbie had missed Eddie, Elizabeth had missed Mike, Eddie had missed Elizabeth and Sybil had missed Richard. Lives were destroyed and rebuilt during this period (1956-1964) which is why I titled this video clip, "Missing You". No thought, though, Elizabeth Taylor was THE celebrity of the 20th Century. In viewing these short film clips, please donate to the cause that has become Dame Elizabeth Taylor's life mission for over two decades. The eradication of AIDS in the world. Until such time, "The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation" funds programs and organization that give direct care to the population of millions affected with HIV/AIDS...whether it is direct care or related/ associated services. So many people are now living longer with AIDS/HIV due to advances in viral medication technology, but the impact of living a life with AIDS is far reaching. AIDS affects all of us, in one way or another. Generations of young people are not conscious of the 1980's. The face of AIDS has changed since the time when those who were ill were visibly stigmatized, akin to being lepers. Now, those with HIV/AIDS live life among the general population attempting to cope with the disease. Sometimes, silently. Emotionally, the impact is just the same as those first diagnosed. Fear. The only solution is to rid the world of this disease, therefore opening a technological highway aimed to ignite the remedy to so many other diseases as well. Any amount of time or money will push this development ahead, not behind...never behind!Thank you, Richard Bassettxrichbassx@yahoo.comThe Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundationc/o Derrick LeeReback Lee & Company, Inc.1990 South Bundy Drive, #700LA, Ca. 90025visit:.elizabethtayloraidsfoundation.org
