Under Byen rarely cite any direct musical influences, but on occasion band members have - besides the above - also expressed their fondness for artists such as Björk, Tori Amos, Tom Waits and Mogwai. The attentive listener might find elements of these here and there in the band's music. Reviews of the third album have begun mentioning Einstürzende Neubauten, which also makes sense. One even wrote the rather amusing "Einstürzende Björkbauten". :-) Under Byen have worked with Giant Sand / Howe Gelb (and still do on occasion).
