Brett Favre Biography

A starter for the Green Bay Packers since 1992, Brett Favre is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of professional football. Like Johnny Unitas, Favre's career had an inauspicious start. His entry into the National Football League began when he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 (the 33rd pick in the second round). He played two games while with Atlanta and was traded in 1992 to Green Bay. Since then Favre has won the Most Valuable Player award three times, led the Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XXXI and surpassed Packer records set by football legend Bart Starr. Favre is known as a fierce competitor who likes to throw the ball; he also has a reputation for toughness and for shrugging away injuries. By the end of the 2004-05 regular season, Favre had set a record with 189 consecutive starts with Green Bay (208, including playoffs).
Extra credit: Other quarterbacks include Troy Aikman, Joe Namath and Tom Brady.
